Community Groups

We firmly believe that the Christian life is not meant to be a solo act. There are 100 places in 94 New Testament verses that contain the phrase “one another,” which means we are designed to operate in Christian fellowship with other people, walking in close relationship with them in a way that we all learn and grow in our faith by being around others who are doing the same thing!

That’s where Community Groups come in! We’ve learned that while Sunday morning has it’s strengths (preaching the word, singing together, in-depth study of the Bible), it also has it’s challenges. Most people don’t form deep meaningful relationships from simply attending gatherings on weekends. Community Groups are the on-ramp to Christian community at River City, where smaller groups get together in homes throughout the week to share a meal, pray for each other, and share life experiences together. Our goal is for Groups to be a safe place to be open and honest about things that are going on in your life, and find care, not judgment; gospel-centered friendships, not stuffy perfectionism; hope, not condemnation.

We know it’s a big step to move from not knowing anyone at church, to stepping into someone else’s living room. So if you want to take your time, it’s okay. But we assure you – what you’ll find is ordinary moms, dads, business owners, co-workers, retirees and students, all trying to figure out how to live out their faith in the everyday stuff of life.
